A Touch of Comfort in Sorrow…from Chewy
It came about way too suddenly.
One day, our dog Kona was her regular, energetic 8-year-old self.
Then something went very wrong in her body. Her immune system went haywire and attacked her blood cells.
We tried to save her. But in a few short days, she passed away. A very downer way to enter into Christmas week - grieving for a sweet, loving family companion.
My wife called Chewy, our online provider of dog food/meds, to cancel our deliveries. Their customer service person was very kind and sympathetic (Chewy’s personal and caring service is legendary).
Our grown boys and our little grandchildren crowded the house for Christmas Eve. Happiness mixed with melancholy as we faced the holiday without our sweet labrador retriever being affectionately underfoot.
Then, that evening, this gesture of sweet condolence showed up at our doorstep:
Our entire family burst into tears.
What an uplifting Christmas present! The most touching (and, that day, very needed) outreach by a company I’ve ever seen.
This is next-next-next level customer service, which feels a lot like…love.
Thanks, Chewy!
