The Best Memory Dart Ever…and I Didn’t Create it.

I don’t know who coined the phrase shown on the jar above. But it has “landed” so hard with so many people that it may qualify as the best Memory Dart ever.

I love Memory Darts. Short, pithy, sound-bite phrases that craftily encapsulate a message and immediately turn the light on.

I think Memory Darts are the most powerful tools in our communication arsenal. A single juicy, suggestive phrase is a hundred times more powerful than a paragraph of detailed explanations.

Rewind to I-don’t-know-how-many-years-ago. I saw this phrase - “You Can’t Read The Label of the Jar You’re In” - on an artsy image and immediately adopted it as a mantra to explain why we need an outside set of eyes to help us clearly see our strengths, brainstorm our direction, and form our message.

You need an outside perspective. I do too. Everyone does.

Why? Because we humans are all subjective. Our minds and perspectives become jumbled and unfocused. So we need thoughtful sounding boards. Wise consultants. In my case, I became a Clarity Advisor for anyone seeking help gaining focus and using words to communicate (note: yes, that’s a shockingly large potential customer base of 8 billion people, minus one*)

Gaining clarity can be absolutely career- and life-changing. Jason is just one of many examples:

I am part of a mastermind of smart entrepreneurs that meets weekly (Iron Sharpens Iron). A major part of our regular brainstorming is putting our current challenges and ideas out on the table and gathering the collective wisdom of others to sharpen our business. Reading each other’s labels.

The word “clarity” comes up so often, I wish I could collect a dollar for each usage. But that’s what we’re after. Personal and business clarity. Clear identity and purpose. Clear direction and offerings. Clear messaging that breaks through the noise. I honestly believe that there is nothing more important for every individual (and every organization and business, btw).

I can help you, too. Message me to set up a free half-hour clarity intro call. You’ll walk away with a surprising burst of insight. And the beginnings of a clear label for your jar.

* (The “minus one” is Brother Dominic, self-stranded on a desert island under a vow of silence. He doesn’t need a clarity-fueled message. Might benefit from a juicy hamburger, though…)
